Amethyst is a quartz crystal that appears in various tones, from pale pink-lavender to intense royal purple. It is a gemstone displaying Pleochroism, meaning additional tones of red and blue can appear depending on the direction light strikes the gem.
Preferred premium amethyst is found in a medium-to dark- purple shade and is difficult to obtain. Lusaka amethyst extractions yield only small pieces, making it rare to find stones weighted more than four carats

“Helenite” is a trade name used for a man-made glass that is produced using volcanic ash from the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens. It is sold as facet rough, faceted stones, tumbled stones, and mounted in finished jewelry. The material has been produced in a variety of green, red, and blue hues, which are produced or enhanced by adding coloring agents to the melt. Tourists visiting Mount St. Helens are the primary market for the novelty colored stone jewelry made with helenite.

The story of helenite begins shortly after the May 18, 1980volcanic eruption of Mount St. Helens that blanketed portions of the northwestern United States with a thin layer of volcanic ash. The eruption was widely described in the media, and millions of people became curious about thevolcano and the impact of the eruption.
Immediately after the eruption, people who lived near the volcano began sharing samples of the ash with curious friends and relatives. People who lived outside of the eruption area began travelling to the impact area to witness the destruction. Many of them carried home a small amount of ash to show to friends and neighbors. The ash quickly became a souvenir.
A few days after the eruption, workers using an acetylene torch while doing salvage work accidentally discovered that the torch could melt the volcanic ash into a green glass. This story was circulated, and experiments determined that a transparent to translucent green glass could be reproduced in a laboratory by heating samples of ash to 2700 degrees Fahrenheit in a high-temperature furnace followed by rapid cooling.
A few people began producing the glass, cutting it into faceted stones, mounting them in jewelry, and selling the items to tourists. Less than one year after the eruption, Dharma Trading Company began using the name “Helenite” in commerce and filed a trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Their trademark was filed to reserve the name “Helenite” for their exclusive use in marketing “glass in the nature of cut gems and rough gems made from volcanic ash from Mount St. Helens, for use in making jewelry.

Australian Chrysocolla is a vibrant gemstone with a stunning blue-green hue, similar to the very popular turquoise.Such a striking stone.
Chrysocolla is 100 percent natural and is rich with copper. It’s actually part of a small group of copper-bearing gems. Other gemstones within this group include Azurite, Malachite and Cuprite.
This gemstone has a propensity to mix with other minerals, so pure chrysocolla is quite rare. Gemstone specialists refer to indicolite as "indigolith," meaning blue stone. Some Far East manufacturers have started to use it in their production and buy large quantities of raw stones as long as it is still permitted.
Quality grading is according to coloration and the typical mineral crystal configuration in the stone. Larimar also comes in green and even with red spots, brown strikes, etc., due to the presence of other minerals and/or oxidation. But the more intense the blue color and the contrast in the stone, the higher and rarer is the quality. The blue color is photosensitive and fades with time if exposed to too much light and heat.

Jenipapo Andalusite is from the Jenipapo district of Itinga (Jequitinhonha valley) a municipality (município) in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais (‘general mines’ in Portuguese). Geologically scarce, Andalusite crystals are rarely found with good structure, most appearing as water-warn pebbles that occur in relatively small quantities.
Difficult to find in sizes above 3 carats, Jenipapo Andalusite’s rarity is further accentuated by faceting challenges, as optimal lapidary takes time and usually results in lower yields. Jenipapo Andalusite is also one of the few gemstones that are not enhanced.
Jenipapo Andalusite is an excellent gemstone (Mohs’ Hardness: 7.5) well-suited to everyday wear. Always store Jenipapo Andalusite carefully to avoid scuffs and scratches. Clean with gentle soap and lukewarm water, scrubbing behind the gem with a very soft toothbrush as necessary. After cleaning, pat dry with a soft towel or chamois cloth.

 One of the rare and exotic gemstones. Malagasy Labradorite is an exquisite gemstone prized for its rainbow luster, which is an effect named labradorescence. Its metallic luminance shimmers in shades of silver, violet, blue-green and even gold.
Originally discovered in 1770 on the Labrador Peninsula in eastern Canada, labradorite deposits have also been found in Australia, Finland, India, Madagascar, Mexico and in the U.S. Spectrolite, a variety of labradorite displaying intense reds, oranges and yellows as well as blues and greens,  can only be obtained from Finland.

Labradorite’s metallic luster, also known as “schiller,” can be observed when light hits the stone at an angle. The presence of fine platelets of various materials and tiny additions of limenite, rutile and magnetite produces this glorious diffusion of light.
Malagasy labradorite features a dark, smoky gray base color until light strikes the stone to reveal its beautiful rainbow-colored reflection. This variety of labradorite can only be found in a small number of places around the world, one being from the Malagasy region of Madagascar. These gemstones are in their natural state, and no treatment or additional enhancement has been applied to them.

Table Mountain Shadowkite is a rare gemstone desired for its color combination of baby blue, royal blue, light emerald green and pine green. However, the most prized variety of this stone is its soft and delicate baby blue color.
Occurrence
Table Mountain Shadowkite is sourced from a mine in South Africa, near Cape Town. This mine is currently the only known source of this gemstone.

An opaque gemstone, Shadowkite ranks 3.0 to 3.5 on Mohs hardness scale. Shadowkite is a blend of four different minerals: its primary component chrysocolla, cuprite, malachite and azurite.

This new stone presents an extremely rare color combination that is hard to find, even among gemstone collectors. Its four-color combination is unique and cannot be found consistently in any other stone. It is a 100 percent natural stone with no additional treatments. Table Mountain Shadowkite is a part of the chrysocolla stone family and encompasses a blend of four different minerals: chrysocolla being its primary component, cuprite, malachite and azurite.

One of the most desired varieties of quartz, Galilea rose quartz stone is a universal symbol of love and romance. Prized for its soft pink hues, this gem has captured the hearts of gem lovers around the world.

This variety of quartz is named for its pink, rose-like color. Galilea rose quartz comes in an array of rose hues that range from pale, soft pinks to deep reddish-pink. While pure quartz is white or colorless, this stone contains traces of titanium, which gives it its rose coloring.Stones with a deeply saturated pink color are considered more valuable. Transparent rose quartz is extremely rare. Some stone display needle-shaped microscopic inclusions or rutile within the gem. These naturally align to create a six-pointed star effect called asterism when cut en cabochon.

Strontium Titanate is a man-made material with a chemical composition of SrTiO3. It grabbed public attention in the early 1950s as a diamond simulant - a material that has an appearance that is very much like diamond but has a different composition and/or crystal structure. 

When cut and polished like a diamond, strontium titanate has a very similar luster, brilliance, and scintillation. However, strontium titanate has a “fire” that greatly exceeds the fire of a diamond. “Fire” is the ability of a gem to act as a prism and separate light passing through it into a rainbow of colors. The fire of strontium titanate is so strong that it immediately surprises the observer. 
​Strontium titanate does not have the hardness and toughness of diamond, and that was a problem. It has a hardness of 5.5 -- low enough that contact with many common objects could result in a scratch or a damaged facet edge. This deficiency allowed newly developed simulants a place in the market. 
Starting in the 1970s, simulants such as YAG (yttrium aluminium garnet), GGG (gadolinium gallium garnet) and cubic zirconia (CZ) quickly took market share away from strontium titanate. In the eye of many consumers, these simulants had an appearance that was similar to diamond and a durability that was superior to strontium titanate. 

In the 1990s, synthetic moissanite began to replace YAG, GGG, and CZ in many of their uses. Its appearance is very similar to diamond, but it has a hardness and fire that is superior to all of these simulants from the 1970s. Cubic zirconia remains an important diamond simulant because its price is much lower than synthetic moissanite. ​
