Is Turkizite, Zultanite and Czarite the same stone?

I have been asked to explain Turkizite, Zultanite and Czarite. I hope this helps you to understand.
Any questions feel free to ask. If I don't know, I will find out for you.

Zultanite and Csarite are both the mineral Diaspore
Zultanite and Csarite are the trademarked names given to the best Quality color change Diaspore that only comes from Turkey.
Diaspore from other locations cannot be called Zultanite or Csarite.

Diaspore was first discovered in 1801 in Russia. The name Diaspore comes for the Greek word “diaspora” meaning to scatter. It was called this because of the way the gemstone seemed to scatter the light and sparkle. Diaspore is generally a yellowish green color in fluorescent light and it changes to a reddish pink color in incandescent light. The gem can look like both of these colors at the same time depending what type of light is hitting it.

Since 1801 when it was first discovered there have been many deposits found. It can now be found in the USA (Arizona and Pennsylvania), New Zealand, Brazil, Argentina, Russia, the UK and China. You will notice that I have left Turkey off this list. The Diaspore that comes from Turkey is special.

There is a deposit of Diaspore in Turkey that is unlike any other deposit. It has incredible color changing properties with up to three distinct colors visible at any one time. The mine in Turkey is owned by a man named Murat Akgun. It is his company who has introduced the gemstones of Zultanite and Csarite to the world. The names have been derived from the tsars of Turkey.

In 1997 the first Zultanite was cut from the mine in Turkey. In 2005 the name Zultanite was unveiled to the world. After a few years of trying to market this name Murat found it difficult. The name just didn’t catch on. In 2012 the name Zultanite was dropped and a new name was given. The new name for this gemstone is Csarite.

Zultanite, now known as Csarite, is mined in a bauxite rich deposit in the Anatolian Mountains of central Turkey. The beauty of this gemstones is that is comes from a single source, much like Tanzanite. It is natural, untreated and has one of the most amazing color changing characteristics of any natural gemstone.

Zultanite and Csarite are trademarked names and belong to a brand. While the mineral is Diaspore, there are some major differences. It is mined in one location only ensuring ethical distribution

Each gemstone is beautifully cut and graded to ensure only the best quality gems will be able to carry the name Zultanite or Csarite. Zultanite and Csarite can only be purchased from selected distributers that are hand selected. If someone tried to sell you Csarite ask them for their certificate of representation before purchasing.

Diaspore and Zultanite / Csarite are exactly the same. If you have a Diaspore that looks exactly the same as Zultanite or Csarite it is not able to be called that because it did not come from the company who produces that gem.

Is Diaspore the same as Turkizite?

Diaspore gems are not treated or enhanced.
The only commercial source of Diaspore gemstones is the Bauxite near Pinarcik, in Mugla, Turkey.
The color-changing habits and hardness can distinguish Diaspore from all other gemstones.
Diaspore is a very durable gemstone with a hardness of 6.5 – 7 on the MOHS scale. This puts it in the same ball park as Tanzanite or Perdiot. After obtaining information I do not believe Tanzanite is the same as Diaspore.

Tanzanite is not turkizite. I still do not know if turkizite is the same as czarite.
I also think that although czarite and zultinite are the same stone coming from the same mine, the owners of the mine split and depending, which former partner is selling you the stone is called one or another.
it also seems to me that turkizite is the left over stone sold on the second hand market, when the stone does not meet quality requirements to be called czarite.
Can anyone confirm?

The name "tanzanite" was given because the world's only known tanzanite deposit of commercial importance is in northern Tanzania. The name reflects the gem’s limited geographic origin. The mines are all located in an area of about eight square miles in the Merelani Hills, near the base of Mount Kilimanjaro and the city of Arusha. I believe Turkizite is the same as Czarite.

It took me a bit of searching but I believe this is the answer. I believe all stones are the same, just each a better quality.
The mine in Turkey is owned by a man named Murat Akgun. It is his company who has introduced the gemstones of Zultanite and Csarite to the world. The names have been derived from the tsars of Turkey.

Both the gemstones Zultanite and Csarite are trademarked as they are the very best quality SI graded material that has to be of excellent clarity and color to warrant the trademark of Csarite the other material has not passed the quality control tests and are not certified as such and therefore not Csarite ....Csarite has to come with its certification ensuring the buyer has the best grade available

Turkizite and Csarite is the same gemstone.You pay more for the name Csarite at some gem stores.Many gems are sold also under the name "Zultanite." Before buying any gem stone,do your research or you may regret it.

Best prices in the world on Tanszinite, turkisite.etc all the rare stones. Got a 4ct Tanszinite for $4300.99 I just had it appraised bit did so at $21400.99. the mine is closed since 2019 so prices are going up with extreme swiftness.

I am coresponding with a person who claims to have a mine of the above named minerals near Instanbul. Sounds suspicious. Should I be wary of any dealings with her, she claims to be an very well gemologist?

You should always be suspicious when you are purchasing from another country. Turkey does have the above minerals. Find out what the name of the mine is and the name of this gemologist and google it. If she is that well known she will show up. Let us know what you find and how you make out. Read all my comments above and I think that would help you. Good luck.

Mr. Murat Akgun bought the entire mine from ETI Bank, a government institution that owned and operated the mine at the time, in 2005, a government organization that previously mined in the area. Then, he founded ‘the Milenyum Mining’ company to operate this mine. He named the gemstones found in the mine ‘Sultanite’. After two different partnerships, Mr. Akgun lost the trademark rights of ‘Sultanite’ while he still holds the ownership of the mine. Then, he named the gemstones as CSARITE®. Due to financial issues, Mr. Akgun stopped mining on July 2016. He has been actively seeking a partner to reopen the mine.

A man called Murat owns the mine in Turkey containing the Diaspore. Czarite and Zultanite are both trade marked names for the stone which are owned by Gemporia.

Zultanite (Worldwide), Csarite (TGGC only) and Turkizite (TJC group) are all the same gem from the same location. Murat disassociated himself from the various trademarks recently and now refers to it simply as Turkish Diaspore. Diaspore is not unique to Turkey and, although the three brand names are just commercial stuff and nonsense, they do provide some assurance that the variety of Diaspore that you're buying is from that location in Turkey and has the colour shift properties of the stone.

I have a Csarite Ring and, it is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. It changes from a deep olive to a Deep Red and Pink, in the sunlight. I bought it from Gemporia and, I am very happy with it. Thanks for the chance to tell someone of it's rare beauty.

I have several beautiful Zultanite and Csarite jewellery. I always buy fom Gemporia because you great prices, but more importantly, authenticity certificates showing every possible detail of the gemstones. I have not been able to authenicate the true origins of turkasite so am inclined to be wary.

This was great reading. I just bought two rings (man and woman’s) and a necklace on Royal Carribean Cruise Lines ship. They are so beautiful and we received letters of Authenticity for Zultanite stones. They are so beautiful! We watched the video on how big of a chunk of granite it takes to get down to one stone of perfection. Researched the heck out of this stone on the internet before purchasing. The sparkle of the gem and then surrounded be diamonds is incredible. We were able to negotiate and get good, fair prices and do not regret the purchases. So it sounds like Zoltanite and Csanite are from the same mines and Turkacite, but the turkacite is of lesser quality gem. All very interesting.

After reading some of the comments regarding Turkizite I think I write about my experience. I buy Turkizite from TJC and in my opinion it is definitely not a cast off of Csarite. TJC is a highly reputable company one of the largest in the world and would not risk their reputation with misleading information. I have received independent Accredited Gemological Institute Reports stating that the retail replacement value is 5 times what I have paid and the cut is excellent which is not surprising considering the people who cut the stones. I am not a jeweller so I'm not writing this for financial gain. I hope this helps people who are considering purchasing Turkizite.
