Kagem Zambian Emerald is a highly popular green gemstone. This gorgeous deep green gem can pull higher values, carat for carat, than the highest quality white diamond.The Kagem Emerald mine is the world’s single largest producer of Emeralds and accounts for approximately 20% of global Emerald production. It covers an area of approximately 41 square kilometres and is located in the central part of the Ndola Rural Emerald Restricted Area (“NRERA”), in the Copperbelt Province of Zambia.
Zambia is the world's second biggest producer of Emeralds, with its Kafubu River area deposits (Kagem Mines) about 45 km southwest of Kitwe responsible for 20% of the world's production of gem quality stones in 2004.[16] In the first half of 2011 the Kagem mines produced 3.74 tons of Emeralds
